Hanoi expands walking street space, increases entertainment spots for New Year 2025

Walking spaces and entertainment venues will increase activities during the New Year holiday to serve people and tourists to have fun and welcome the new year 2025.

To facilitate people and tourists when visiting and having fun during the 2025 New Year holiday, the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District announced the organization of walking spaces in the district.

Specifically, the walking space around Hoan Kiem Lake and surrounding areas will operate from 7:00 p.m. on December 31, 2024 to 12:00 p.m. on January 1, 2025.

Walking streets in the Old Quarter will operate from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. on December 31, 2024 and January 1, 2025.

The District People's Committee requests departments, offices, and units under the district, Dong Xuan Joint Stock Company, and the People's Committees of wards to proactively coordinate and effectively implement assigned tasks, ensuring urban security and order, traffic safety and order, environmental sanitation, urban aesthetics; ensuring regulations on disease prevention, fire prevention, and safety for people and tourists.

Previously, to welcome the new year 2025, Hanoi city will organize fireworks displays at 5 points (6 locations) in Hoan Kiem, Ha Dong, Nam Tu Liem districts, Son Tay town and Dong Anh district from 0 - 0:15 on January 1, 2025. Specifically:

It is expected that the most crowded place will be Hoan Kiem Lake. Accordingly, people and tourists can stand around the lake, on the sidewalks of surrounding streets such as Ba Trieu, Trang Thi, Hang Dao with a straight view of the lake.

People can also choose to sit at the rooftop cafes around this area such as: Highland Coffee (Ham Ca Map building), HaNoiTime Coffee (Dinh Tien Hoang), Skyline (Gia Ngu), Rooftop (Pacific Place building, Ly Thuong Kiet street)...

Besides, Hanoi also has many public spaces that are suitable entertainment spots for residents and tourists during the New Year holiday such as Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Island - Ngu Xa food street, and Tran Nhan Tong walking street.

In particular, on the evening of December 31, in addition to watching fireworks, people and tourists can also enjoy outdoor performances and the Countdown program to welcome the new year at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, August Revolution Square, and Tran Nhan Tong walking street.

In the Ngoc Island - Ngu Xa culinary area, visitors will experience the culinary "specialties" with Pho rolls. In addition, there is also a tourism product "Train Line No. 6 - Subsidy Car: Kitchen - Cupboard - Tray", bringing people and visitors to experience Hanoi during the subsidy period.

On January 1, 2025, the Thang Long – Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center will open its doors to visitors and take photos at the Hanoi Flag Tower - one of the symbols of Hanoi. This is an opportunity for residents and tourists to experience and understand this special historical relic.
